The Solicitors Regulation Authority may have intervene into your solicitors practise.
Their intervention into a practice has two main effects:

They take possession of the practice's documents, including client papers.

The legal right of the practice to hold and distribute money is given to the SRA.
When does the SRA intervene?
Legislation gives the SRA powers to intervene for various reasons.
Reasons for a SRA intervention
Legislation gives the SRA a range of reasons, known as "grounds" for intervention. Examples follow.

They suspect dishonesty.

A recognised sole practitioner has been made bankrupt.

A recognised sole practitioner has been committed to prison.

A recognised sole practitioner has been struck off the roll.

The practice has been abandoned.

There have been serious breaches of the Accounts Rules.
Full reasons for any specific intervention are confidential.
Following an intervention the Law Society takes possession of all papers and money held by the firm and appoints another firm of solicitors to act as its Agent in order to do this.
If you are a client of an intervened firm, you should be aware that the firm is no longer able to act for you.
The solicitors who have been appointed as its Agent does not continue the practice of the intervened firm, nor to act on behalf of the firm's clients in relation to existing matters.
Your file may require further or continued attention. For example, there may be ongoing post-completion work in respect of conveyancing and/or important documents that should be distributed to you. It is these cases that you may wish to contact Pindoria Solicitors on 0208 951 6950 to represent you especially for conveyancing, wills and probate matters.
What if my file is a conveyancing file?
For us to get involved in your file and complete your conveyancing we need the file to be transferred to Pindoria Solicitors by the Agent. For this we will need the written consent of each of the clients on whose behalf the firm was acting in relation to the matter. To assist you, a standard authority form can be accessed by clicking on the link. You will need to complete this form and send it to us before we may release your file in accordance with your wishes.
It is likely that your lender also instructed your previous solicitor to undertake mortgage work relating to the conveyance of the property. Hence, consent of your lender will be required before the Agent solicitor which is intervening is able to release your file to us at
Pindoria Solicitors. We can help you with this work.
Solicitor Costs
Regrettably you do remain responsible for the payment of any outstanding costs and disbursements due to the intervened solicitor. If you had any of your held funds on client account at the date of the intervention, and costs are due to the intervened solicitor, any claim you make may be reduced by the amount due to the intervenes solicitor.
